Which licence?

Class B
EILX up to 750 kg GVW (fold 500, 750, 750/2)

May also be towed if the combination exceeds 3,500 kg, as it is a light trailer.

Class B
EILX above 750 kg GVW (fold 1000, 1000MAX, 1500)

Permitted as long as towing vehicle and trailer together do not exceed 3,500 kg GVW.

Class B96
EILX above 750 kg GVW (fold 1000, 1000MAX, 1500)

Car and trailer may weigh up to 4,250 kg GVW combined. A training course at a driving school is enough, with no exam.

Class BE
all models

No 3,500 kg limit, as long as your car's towing capacity is respected.

The EILX fold 1000 and 1000MAX can also be supplied from the factory as O1 with 750 kg GVW.

100 km/h approval

All EILX trailers are generally suitable for up to 100 km/h. For the EILX fold 750 and fold 1000, the optional axle shock absorbers are also required.

You receive the 100 km/h sticker from your registration office once registration is complete. For unbraked trailers, the towing vehicle also matters.

Rule of thumb, unbraked
Kerb weight of towing vehicle × 0.3 = max. GVW of trailer
Example: 1,700 kg × 0.3 = 510 kg
Nose weight

If your vehicle has a permitted nose weight between 40 and 150 kg, you can generally hitch up an EILX trailer without any problems.

The lower value of towing vehicle and tow bar applies. For stable handling, use the nose weight well without exceeding the limits.

Guideline
Nose weight ≈ 4 % of the actual trailer weight
Example: 1,000 kg × 4 % = 40 kg
