Motorcycle trailers for one or two motorcycles
The fold 500 and the fold 750 carry one motorcycle on a 240 × 105 cm load area. The fold 750/2, the fold 1000 and the fold 1000MAX take two motorcycles. For two large touring bikes there is the fold 1500 with a 260 × 160 cm load area.
Braked or unbraked?
Unbraked trailers such as the fold 500 and the fold 750/2 are lighter and cheaper. Braked models offer more payload and more reserve, especially with heavy motorcycles. Important: different towing capacities apply to braked and unbraked trailers. You will find them in your vehicle registration certificate under O.1 (braked) and O.2 (unbraked).
Calculating the payload
What counts is the weight of your motorcycle ready to ride, with a full tank. You will find it in your vehicle registration certificate under G. Add luggage and accessories and plan some reserve: two motorcycles of 250 kg each need at least 500 kg payload.
Which driving licence do I need?
You may tow trailers up to 750 kg gross vehicle weight with a class B licence, which covers the fold 500, fold 750 and fold 750/2. For the fold 1000, fold 1000MAX and fold 1500, class B is enough as long as car and trailer together have a permitted total weight of no more than 3,500 kg. Up to 4,250 kg you need B96, above that BE. More under Registration & licence.
Registration and 100 km/h
Every EILX comes with a COC certificate. You use it to register the trailer at your registration office, no individual approval is needed. The models are approved for 100 km/h. You receive the 100 km/h sticker after registration if your towing vehicle meets the requirements.
Saving space in garage and carport
Folded up, the EILX stands on its own without any wall mounting and needs from just 85 cm of depth. That leaves room for car and motorcycle in your garage, basement or carport. You can see how folding works in the video on every model page, for example the fold 750/2.
